Velvet Rain encourages creativity and innovation and focuses on working with the top fresh Chinese filmmakers and their unique voices to provide them with an international platform for their multicultural vision.

Velvet Rain was founded in 2013 by Rain Li, known for her feature film work on Paranoid Park and numerous television commercials and music videos.The team is a cast of culturally diverse and globally educated individuals dedicated to bringing a novel approach to Chinese and international filmmaking.






Robert Ogden Barnum

Robert Ogden Barnum is an award winning feature film producer whose most recent films include the Academy Award® nominated Sundance hit, Margin Call, starring Kevin Spacey, Jeremy Irons, Demi Moore, Zachary Quinto and Stanley Tucci. The film also won the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature and the Robert Altman Award. Barnum's other films include John Hillcoat's Lawless - starring Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman and Jessica Chastain - which premiered at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival and went on to gross over $40M at the US box office.

Barnum has been actively involved in the film industry as an investor, distributor and producer for the last seven years. He is co-founder of E2B Capital along with Cassian Elwes, to package creative independent movies. He is also the founder and CEO of Anywhere Road, a boutique distribution and production company.






Argosy Pictures

Argosy Pictures was founded in 2009 by three veteran media executives to tap into market opportunities across the evolving entertainment industry. Argosy's core activities include the independent financing and production of motion picture feature films, with an emphasis on the US and China markets.

Aside from Beijing, New York, Argosy is currently developing a slate of projects including The Seventh Swords to be directed by Chuck Russell (The Mask) and Yuen Wo Ping (The Matrix, Kill Bill, Drunken Master), action comedy Miss Chinatown and martial arts project Master of Assassins.
